ARTIST NOTES
This illustration was created out of an appreciation for the way that no grappling gym is united by background or belief… but we’re birds of a feather somehow. When you’re fighting to keep your arm from breaking, or your oxygen from being cut off, it’s difficult to put up a façade in that moment. Do you tap early or fight until the last minute? Do you make excuses, or ask for advice? Do you put yourself back in the same position to try again, or do you avoid it? The people you train with, they’re the ones who have chosen to show you who they really are, roll after roll, and it’s refreshing.
